North Sea Jazz Festival

Since its inaugural edition in 1976 when the Nederlands Congresgebouw in The Hague welcomed jazz royalty in the shape of Benny Goodman, Miles Davis, Count Basie and Dizzy Gillespie, the North Sea Jazz Festival has grown to become one of Europe's premier jazz festivals. Since 2006, the Dutch maritime city of Rotterdam has taken over hosting duties and today the North Sea Jazz festival welcomes more than a thousand musicians who put on 150 performances across 13 stages for 70,000 visitors. From American jazz to European avant-garde, for three days each August, Rotterdam is the place to be for an all-you-can-eat jazz smorgasbord.
